Barney was a beaten yard dog just four years ago *PIC*

Barney was a beaten yard dog in Vancouver four years ago. A Taiwanese family with husband away, and the son allowed to beat Barney with a hose and 2x4 when he cried to come inside. Two elderly women who lived nearby, took the law into their own hands because the SPCA said as long as Barney had food, water and shleter, the law (the PCA Act) was not adequate to do more for him.

The same PCA Act is now being used by the SPCA to seize healthy animals with food, water and shelter which are NOT being beaten, or even neglected.

But it is still leaving dogs like Barney where they are. That must be questioned more.

He got rescued and AAS found Bettyjean for him.

From today's Sun: Bettyjean McHugh, 77, of North Vancouver, runs with her dog, Barney. She set the 75-year-old record in Victoria in 2003, running a 4:08.54.
