VANCOUVER/CKNW(AM980)--A proposed policy on animal dissection in the classroom is not supported by everyone in the Vancouver School District.
The Vancouver Secondary Teachers Association is not in favour of creating a formal policy supporting students rights to opt out of dissections.

Association President Bill Bargeman says currently students only need to ask and alternative study methods are found, "If the Board establishes a policy. It's going to be a cost factor. You know, if it's their policy then they have to provide the alternatives to the schools."

Bargeman says every school would have to have virtual dissection software, not to mention extra staff for supervision.
