SPCA Seeks Help in Identifying Owner of Neglected Dog
May 10, 2005. For immediate release. The BC SPCA is seeking the public's help in locating the owner of a badly-neglected dog found wandering near the Pitt River bridge last evening. "When our night emergency officer located the dog he thought he was a heavy, medium size animal, but he soon realized that the poor dog was actually much smaller, with many layers of badly-matted fur built up," says Eileen Drever, Senior Animal Protection Officer for the BC SPCA. The male, older dog, who appears to be a bearded collie/schnauzer mix, was so badly neglected that the SPCA immediately took him to an emergency clinic where he was examined and more than five pounds of matted fur was shaved from his body.

"This dog has either been lost for some time or has been neglected," says Drever. "If anyone has any information about the owner of this animal we urge them to call the SPCA at 604-709-4670.
