Animal Advocates Watchdog

Her name was Sassy *LINK*

Very recently the female guard dog from West Coast Engineering was found roaming the industrial park and was taken into the Delta Humane Society as a stray. When she was claimed by the company that owned her it was found she was escaping under the fence much like OJ, the dog that was purchased to replace Brutus, did in the past. OJ was safe and sound in the yard he protected but she found a way out and took it. Having her escape seemed strange as when she lived with Brutus she had never left the yard nor had she left since OJ became her new companion.

Sassy was the name of the young female that lived with Brutus and then OJ. But Sassy was not the name of the dog claimed from the DHS; the dog who had escaped was not Sassy. Sassy was dead; how she died I don't know but from what I recall Sassy was a young, spayed dog. Now she was dead and had been replaced by yet another Rottweiler to take over her guard.

Finding out this news made me feel sick and very sad. As sad as I did the day Brutus died. What a horrible way to live and die. So easily replaced. I hope somehow Sassy knows that I cried for her as I did Brutus. As I will cry when OJ and his latest companion die after their lonely lives as well, and the dogs they are replaced with, and the ones after that too...

There has to be a way to stop this. How can their lives be worth so little? Worth less than the scrap metal or whatever else they are meant to protect.

Rest in peace Sassy, now that you are once again with your friend Brutus. Watch over OJ and his new companion until they join you only to be replaced once again.

Her name was Sassy, she was a friend of Brutus and the other guard dog I knew at West Coast Engineering.
