Pawnshop owner fined for selling eagle parts

An Alberta pawnshop owner who trafficked in eagle parts has been fined $18,000.

Dale Carl Ogilvie, 53, pleaded guilty in Wetaskiwin provincial court to selling bird of prey parts and to possessing the parts for the purpose of trafficking.

Ogilvie and six other Alberta men were charged Jan. 25 with 41 counts under the Wildlife Act .

The items are sold to collectors in a network that extends across North America.
