IMPORTANT COUNCIL MEETING MONDAY NIGHT! HELP GET RID OF THE GROUSE ZOO

Please add your body to the critical mass that is needed for councillors to care what you care about. That Zoo must be closed before the rhinestone cowboys - the resort owners, the staff "experts" - that are imprisoning and displaying animals for money, kill anymore helpless wild animals.

Location: District Hall, 355 W.Queens Rd.

North Vancouver ( Upper Lonsdale turn left onto W.Queens for 3 blocks).

Notice of Motion - Grouse Mountain - report Councilor Crist:

Whereas it has been reported that, as a result of a possible violation of existing land use (zoning), animal protection bylaws and/or other relevant policies for the safe keeping of animals, an animal has been killed in the Grouse Mountain Animal Confinement Area (Zoo) and

Whereas despite past efforts by Councilor Crist asking District Staff to determine whether any such animal confinement area (Zoo) on Grouse Mountain, including relevant zoning and/or animal regulations, comes under the jurisdiction of the District of North Vancouver, and

Whereas, under the previous Mayor, Don Bell, this request by Councilor Crist was ignored more or less

Therefore be it resolved that Staff prepare a report for the benefit of Council as to whether Grouse Mountain Resorts or any operation under its control, including relevant land use and/or the keeping of animals, is under the jurisdiction of the District of North Vancouver and if so to what degree this is the case and further

That the report also indicate that, if the District has any such jurisdiction, whether the reasons leading to the recent killing of an animal on Grouse Mountain, as reported in the press, is a violation of any such District bylaw or policy as the case may be.
