I am surprised to see the costs for legal work at such low numbers. My experience (17 cases) in these matters tells me that should this case go all the way to trial it would cost the SPCA $300,000 plus and the defendants $150,000 plus to defend. Then there is a possibility that one side will loose and damages would take these costs higher. I don't wish a legal action on my worst enemy.
The SPCA has just issued a Strategic Plan that suggests that it will have to reduce branch support and even close some branches to save $432,600 over the next 3 years. I don't believe AA and the other defendants can afford or wish to spend this kind of money. On top of these costs, this dispute will go on for 3 to 4 more years -surely no one is looking forward to that.
