While the program doesn't say "go out, get a cat (or any other animal) and allow it to have a litter of kittens", it still shows the fun, cute side of a companion animal giving birth to an adorable litter of kittens. Who wouldn't want to experience this first hand? That was the whole point of my letter of response! I don't care if the cat is already pregnant, it is still promoting the whole situation - under the guise of education. How about airing a documentary on a wolf pack, which shows the whole pregnancy, birth scenario, and is just as educational, without the hint of "anyone can do this at home". They said that the animals they show were already pregnant, well, guess what we have to do with pregnant cats? Abort and spay. The cruel, hard facts. And we do it out of love and compassion, knowing the reality that we cannot find homes for all of the kittens already out there. So frustrating and heartbreaking.
