I would like to express my condolences to the friends, family, and fellow activists of Harriet Nahanni.
This country has a shameful record of incarcerating Native people - women like Ms. Nahanni should be revered and respected for the tireless work they do on behalf of this beautiful planet - our home.
I can't help but think that those who condemned Ms. Nahanni to days in jail, which likely contributed to, if not outright caused her death, would have been less eager to send a frail, elderly white man to jail under the same circumstances.
