Re: "Exotic Animals" bylaws poorly protect animals

The bylaws pertain to wild and exotic animals and do not go far enough to prohibit the use of domestic animals. The ones in the Okanagan (Kelowna, Salmon Arm and Kamloops)do include any display, performance or travelling circus. The tiger was booked to come to the Capri Mall in Kelowna. We (TRACS)informed them about the bylaw and they cancelled the tiger booking.
I'm glad AAS is identifying the problems and the laws should protect all animals. We are now lobbying for an Exotic Animal bylaw which would prevent people from owning snakes, lizards, alligators, iquanas, monkeys.....many of the pet stores seem to be expanding this trade. One store told me they aren't as much trouble as puppies.
