SPCA'S NON-REPORT ON CHAINED DOGS

MORE SPCA SECRECY AND POWER POLITICS

Last June, 2001, AAS sent our Report "It's Time" on chained, neglected, yard/guard dogs in Vancouver to the City of Vancouver. http://www.animaladvocates.com/It'sTime.htm

In September, 2001, a delegation from AAS attended council to discuss what could/should be done for these dogs.

That council meeting confirmed what City staff had said at previous meetings and in letters to AAS: that the City believed that the SPCA was "taking care of" these lonely, isolated, and sometimes dangerous dogs in Vancouver.

And the SPCA representative who attended confirmed that the SPCA was going to "raise the bar" on investigations, seizures, and prosecutions for social neglect - in the new year.

The SPCA report (link below) on the AAS dogs is the SPCA's idea of "Raising the Bar". It is insultingly devoid of any useful information.

On May 24th we asked the City if this report was good enough for them. No answer.

We believe that this is another example of the battle going on behind the scenes at the BC SPCA over who has control of policy implementation - management or employees.
