There is documented, decades-long proof of a link between animal-welfare improvement at the $22 million a year BC SPCA and the pressure from scrutiny and exposure by the media and the internet. According to information we continue to receive, the SPCA is still a long way from the true animal-welfare levels practiced for many decades by the tiny groups with only shoe-string budgets; groups which did all the real animal welfare in BC for so long, almost entirely uncredited by the SPCA which knew full well of these groups' humane animal-welfare work, sometimes even offloading the expense and care of some of its sick animals onto these little groups who took the animals because they were told the animals would otherwise be killed by the SPCA. It seems that scrutiny and questions must continue.
