AAS is not anti-union, but....

AAS said from the beginning of our exposure of SPCA corruption that the corruption went from top to bottom. Management entered into dog killing contracts that the union employees were happy to carry out. AAS only and always had an animal welfare agenda, but both the BC SPCA and the union employees have self-serving agendas. The proof is on many AAS web pages.

CUPE 1622, is attacking the SPCA to protect its members animal-disposing jobs by trying to stop the SPCA from getting out of the dog control/disposal contracting business. Some of those CUPE members have killed hundreds of animals a year, some of them for decades. One former head of CUPE 1622 said publicly that he had killed 50,000 animals in his career. A member of another CUPE local who posted on our board in support of us got a threat from a fellow CUPE member that her cats could be found murdered if she posted on the AAS board again.

CUPE is trying to stop the SPCA from getting out of animal disposal contracts. It is these employees who defended the use of the electrothenator, a machine that fried dogs to death. It defended gas boxes. It tried to stop reformers from making it stop using these machines. Disgusted former employees have told AAS of ways of killing by these union employees that we will not recount here.

The CUPE employees that the SPCA is trying to fire are the ones who killed so many animals for so many decades and refused to do any animal welfare. They would only do animal control (dog control/disposal contracts) and population control by killing the excess. They have been fighting the SPCA for about three years, trying to make sure the SPCA doesn't stop its mass killing policies. They fancy themselves as cops, not cops bent on enforcing cruelty prevention laws, but as enforcers of animal control laws. They did not act in any way as animal welfarists.

(Read these pages for some background http://www.animaladvocates.com/ron-polly-and-union-career-killers.htm and http://www.animaladvocates.com/spca-bathtub-letter-union.htm and http://www.animaladvocates.com/spca-trigger-happy.htm)

AAS is not anti-union. In fact, we are pro-union. We believe that without unions children would be down in the mines again. But unions can be just as evil in their way as capital can be in its when either of them has too much power. In our opinion CUPE Local 1622 had too much power and the evil that resulted is only too-well known to us.
