CUPE calls for people to donate food instead of money is sanctimonious hogwash

Mr Daniell wants to reform the SPCA and make it do the prevention of cruelty to animals that it never did for decades, but he cannot do that if there is no SPCA to reform so Mr Daniell has to also make the SPCA financially sound too. He is not responsible for the multi-million dollar mess the SPCA is in - it is his predecessor and the board of SPCA directors who are responsible. His predecessor earned $132,000 and Mr Daniell, who is doing the three top jobs at the BC SPCA, is earning $109,000 and we heard, and believe, that he turned down a raise. His very first act on becoming CEO was to fire 18 people in management and yet the union and other mis-informed critics still say that the financial mess is because management is top-heavy. Next he fired some branch staff and that is when the union attacked. AAS has heard times without number of SPCA staff who spend most of their time smoking outside, trolling around in vans, and refusing to answer the phone or clean filthy kennels. Some of these people were fired and a good thing too.

CUPE calls for people to donate food instead of money is sanctimonious hogwash. For decades they have dumpstered tons of donated food. If CUPE is so concerned about animals, why did it never object to SPCA policies that provided its jobs killing unwanted animals? In fact, if this is about animal welfare, why is it fighting tooth and nail to prevent policy changes that might see a reduction in those animal disposing jobs?
