Spay and Neuter only reduces suffering and the horrendous number of deaths resulting from overpopulation. It does not make a profit

How can the BC SPCA approach anyone to introduce and spend the money to enforce mandatory spay and neuter when as a Society the BC SPCA does not spay and neuter all of the animals it sells from it's own facilities? Why does the Society not? I have been told because it is expensive and in many parts of the province inconvenient. If it is inconvenient for the BC SPCA and expensive for the BC SPCA does it not follow it is inconvenient for the public as well? Does it not follow that it is expensive for the public as well?

How can the BC SPCA expect "Joe Blow Public" to take spay and neuter seriously when the Society does not appear to? When the public phone for assistance to spay and neuter their pet where are the SPCA community based programs to help? Where does the BC SPCA fit into the scheme of things?

In Victoria the BC SPCA doesn't.

The BC SPCA apparently considers spay and neuter and the suffering the lack of it brings to be a community problem which can be helped by the BC SPCA maximizing it's selling program of people's surrendered pets. Many of these young animals are sold with spay/neuter certificates which will never be redeemed. The SPCA gets to keep the money from all unredeemed certificates so it is counter productive from a revenue perspective for it to follow up and make sure the animal it sold really did get sterilized.

This leaves all of the stray dogs, cats, and rabbits to fend for themselves. This also leaves all owners of dogs, cats and rabbits to figure it out themselves as well.

The BC SPCA states on its Spay and Neuter Fact Sheet
http://www.spca.bc.ca/spay/spay_neuter.htm
that: "In just 7 years, one unspayed cat and her offspring can produce over 450,000 cats! (average litter of 3, twice a year)".

Whether SPAY and NEUTER prevents suffering is no longer a question to be studied.

Whether the lack of SPAY and NEUTER causes cruelty also no longer needs to be studied. Kittens and puppies are still being drowned, and left in garbage bags and boxes to die painfully on the side of the road. Animals are abandoned daily to die. Animals are surrendered daily to die in facilities because no one wants them.

Spay and Neuter does not make a profit.

Spay and Neuter only reduces suffering and the horrendous number of deaths resulting from overpopulation.

Perhaps that is why it is not a BC SPCA priority.

Mandatory S/N and microchipping in Ohio: Why does the SPCA never ask for any laws like this?

Why Is Shilo not worthy of spaying?
Why spend money on a dog you may have to kill?
