As an 'imported' Ontarian, I have spent decades of winters in the frozen north. In my earlier years, I ashamedly admit to wearing the fur of murdered animals...yes, I bought into the consumerism mentality that fur was elegant and the utmost in warmth.
When my conscience finally smacked me in the head, I began buying faux-fur coats, and to my great surprise, I was just as warm throughout the blizzards without my blood-soaked garments.
There is absolutely no difference in the comfort and heat retention between manufactured fur and the skins of dead animals. The virtues of wearing only the fake fur, however, are many - if you have a heart and give a damn about the pain and torture of living creatures.
