Please tell us in detail about the "good stuff" it does

That said, you are critical of us because we never compliment the SPCA. Please tell us in detail about the "good stuff" it does. We try to compliment the SPCA, but it is so rare that we are able to find any examples of honest animal welfare that we can praise it for. I initially complimented the SPCA when it hired Craig Daniell and he expressed interest in cracking down on puppy mills. I did more than compliment him on this messageboard, I gave him all my investigative work on puppy mills I had been tracking in the Okanagan for years, mills that I had reported over and over to the SPCA, mills that the SPCA consistently told me it could do nothing about. I complimented the SPCA when it seized dogs from these mills AND I offered to rehabilitate and pay all the bills for any difficult ones. Guess what? My offer was ignored, and the SPCA started to kill the dogs. Innocent little blind terrified puppy mill dogs. It was killing them at the same time as it was using their pictures to ask for money. This is only one of literally hundreds of examples I can give as to why I am unable to praise the SPCA. This messageboard is full of our firsthand experiences with the SPCA, not, as you call it, "gossip".

Thanks to our criticisms we have forced a bit of reform within the SPCA. We have forced it to stop killing animals for cash. We have forced it to stop employing people who breed and mutilate animals on the side. We may be forcing it towards more pre-sales sterilization, but it is hard to know, as there is so much secrecy around SPCA policies and actions. Oh, and after over one hundred years, it has finally been forced to produce audited financial statements. So THAT'S good, don't you think?

But please, we would love to hear the details about the "good stuff" that you are aware of the SPCA doing.

How could one possibly misinterpret this statement: "Can you meet his or hers Physical, Emotional + Social needs? (Fenced yard or Dog Run)"

Your Williams Lake SPCA sold Erin, unspayed, who had pups and then was brought back to be sold again *PIC*
Thanks to the SPCA's critics, some improvements have been made:"I'd even clean the tavern toilets for money before I'd accept a job that requires...
then you'de know what's really going on!
The SPCA is not a retail buisness... or is it?
There is no point in me replying to this
This employee is a symptom of SPCA malaise
I have spoken with or attempted to speak with SPCA CAC members, branch staff, branch managers, Head Office staff, Directors, and the President of the BCSPCA
What does Animal Advocates do?
I wouldn't leave my home and leave my children outdoors in the most securely fenced area
I continue to not "get it" when people say leaving a dog in a yard all day is a not a bad thing
How could the SPCA not figure out this basic, basic stuff?
And just what does AAS have against people who kill dogs for a living anyway?
I saw dogs tied out in the heat, no water, tangled in tethers at the Williams Lake SPCA
I received an answer from Bob Busch Operations Manager (in charge of the branches)
So, Mr. Busch says the Williams Lake SPCA doesn't condone outside dogs... *LINK*
Stupid e-mail disclaimers?
Re: your comment about tests to decide which dogs are to die!
Those tests that "we" hate so much meant a death sentence for two puppymill dogs in May, 2003 *PIC*
No one would listen so I posted publicly on AAS. Voila...the SPCA listened *PIC*
