Ernst cannot save them all *LINK* *PIC*

"Katie Ernst, Vancouver's supervisor of canine services, said a new booklet called Rex in the City is being distributed to help dog owners -- and called the tougher stance on dogs long overdue. "It's trying to take a pro-active approach to managing urban dogs," she said.'

Katie Ernst is the owner of the Pit Bull "rescue" organization Hugabull. The Vancouver City Pound is bursting with unwanted Pit Bulls and Pit Bull crosses. It must sell them or kill them. Ernst cannot save them all, no one can. Yet she defends the breeding of more. Pound jobs will exist as long as there are dangerous dogs so Ernst's defence of breeding more Pit Bulls could be seen as a case of "feeding your own industry" except that we personally know that Ernst does not have any such motive. She truly loves the Pit Bull breed, but we think she and the City of Vancouver are wrong to defend the breeding of more Pit Bulls. And we would be more impressed by Ernst's convictions if she were working on breeding the dangerous traits out of the breed she loves so sincerely.
