I will presume, though it is not clear, that you are trying to agree with me on most points; therefore, let us examine the breed ban point exclusively.

I believe that you are attempting to make the "slippery slope" argument. To the ordinary person, there is no significant difference between the members of the fighting breeds. Some are larger, some are smaller, they are all bred with powerful jaws. Whether you like it or not, they were bred to fight, and in the wrong hands, they can be lethal weapons; or, as you put it, "blame the human on the other side of the leash". The only effective way to keep these animals out of the wrong hands is to phase them out.

Although I don't realistically believe that a ban would eradicate pit bulls from our midst, it would eventually reduce their numbers. Fewer pit bulls will lead directly to fewer abused pit bulls, and fewer pit bull attacks.
