Re: Dog thieves pose as city officials, June 27

Although I do not condone the actions of the people who dognapped Tommy, the American Labrador puppy, I see red flags everywhere in this report. The fact that someone has taken the time to call the SPCA four times about this little guy makes me wonder what has been going on.

Tethering a puppy as the family had done in the past is not acceptable. The fact that Lorie Chortyk of the SPCA says its investigators "saw no abuse" doesn't mean much. The SPCA is so limited in what it can do that others are trying to pick up the slack by taking the law into their own hands.

My main concern is the dog. I have seen a lot of dogs isolated and mistreated. All they want is to be part of the family.

I just hope this situation is resolved in the dog's best interest and that he lives a happy, wonderful life full of love.

Four SPCA visits to one home certainly shouldn't qualify this family for public sympathy
