The good news is that the SPCA is starting to practice some limited surrender

This time there is no mention of killing for "disease". It's just an announcement that the SPCA is going to kill for lack of space. The only good news is that the Comox SPCA says it is turning away cat dumpers. After about ten years of AAS pointing out the clear immorality of accepting animals for adoption that are then killed when the facility makes the animals sick or when the facility runs out of space, the SPCA, without making any announcement that we have seen, is finally beginning to practice limited surrender. Our research confirms that some limited surrender is finally being practiced by many SPCA branches. We feel that that is a pretty clear vindication of our oft-stated opinion that it is almost impossible to combine ethical animal welfare with unlimited surrender.

Ms Chortyk says all the cats were critically ill
Something called "germs" kill, not overcrowding. We find the SPCA's reasoning questionable
This entire incident begs to be investigated thoroughly for all of its inconsistencies
I currently have several perfectly healthy, non-aggressive rabbits that just months ago were going to be put down
