2005 - 91 cats killed at the Kamloops SPCA

May 13, 2005 The Kamloops Daily News announced that 59 cats at the Kamloops SPCA had been euthanized "in an effort to stop an outbreak of feline distemper."

Just two weeks later on May 27th, 2005 The Kamloops Daily news announced yet another 31 cats were euthanized. Jennifer Gore, manager of the Kamloops SPCA was quoted as saying "more than half were kittens"..."four kittens were definately diagnosed and several others show some signs"

A staggering total of 91 cats killed at the Kamloops SPCA within 2 weeks. In Jennifer Gore's own words, only four of them were "definately diagnosed."

Not to be forgotten are the Kamloops SPCA 2003 puppy mill killings, where two little cocker cross dogs were euthanized for "extreme fear and impending blindness"...words used by the CAMP assessor to justify their deaths. Neither dog showed any signs of aggression, both dogs had multiple adoption requests pending.

So.... it just doesn't add up the way Ms Chortyk claims...does it?

The good news is that the SPCA is starting to practice some limited surrender
Ms Chortyk says all the cats were critically ill
Something called "germs" kill, not overcrowding. We find the SPCA's reasoning questionable
This entire incident begs to be investigated thoroughly for all of its inconsistencies
I currently have several perfectly healthy, non-aggressive rabbits that just months ago were going to be put down
