Leo, Count Tolstoy, indicated his belief that as long as there were slaughter houses, there would be battlefields

There is a correlation between young people wantonly killing animals and their progression to extreme violence to human beings. I would like to suggest that violence simply begets violence. If one practises violence, one becomes good at it. Further, it is simply one animal practising violence against another animal. However, I suggest we take this one step further. If an entire society practises violence within itself, it will also practise violence against other societies. Leo, Count Tolstoy, indicated his belief that as long as there were slaughter houses, there would be battlefields. Need more be written here?

The young people that murdered a rabbit are a product of a society that practises murder on over ten billion fellow sentient beings a year in order to eat itself to death. They are a product of a society that very loudly proclaims the rights of war. The are a product of abuse unlimited!

This particular group of adults and children saw the horrible results of cruelty, abuse and violence first hand. I would place a wager that no parent would take his or her children to a Sunday afternoon romp at a slaughter house. But the Sunday evening meal of roast beef is entirely acceptable.

I am horrified and sincerely mourn the poor rabbit. But the society that actually murdered it sickens me.
