Selling factory farmed animal meat is the SPCA's idea of farm animal welfare?

"The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization funded primarily by public donations. Our mission is to prevent cruelty and to promote the welfare of animals through a wide range of services, including cruelty investigations, emergency rescue and treatment, sheltering and adoption of homeless and abused animals, humane education, advocacy, farm animal welfare, spay/neuter programs, and wildlife rescue and rehabilitation."

Those words accompany all the SPCA's many, many press releases. But I find it difficult to reconcile the selling of factory farmed animal products with the welfare of farmed animals; in fact I would say it's logically impossible to. Nor do I think that any large, real animal welfare organization would attempt to say that factory farmed animals are recipients of what is commonly understood to be animal welfare... except it seems, the BC SPCA.

This contradiction makes me wonder what other SPCA statements are questionable.
