Hear Hear Crystal! You are wonderful! I am so heartened to see there are some who are able to grasp the whole sordid picture.
Yes, Informed, it's me again. I was able to tear myself away from the 24 hours a day routine of running a shelter out of my home to spend a few seconds seeing what's going on in the world. I think you need to quit your SPCA job and spend a little time informming yourself about true rescue. Crystal is a great person to ask- or myself , for that matter. I am curious- since you won't identify yourself (does the SPCA not let you write on messageboards or something? Will they fire you for having a voice?) Some questions you may or may not deign to answer in lieu of revealing your identity:
How many cats and dogs live in your house? How much money do you owe your vet right now? Have you been out to dinner in the last 7 years? How many hours is the longest you can leave your house for? Do you actually have grass in your backyard? Flowers? Are your walls in your house intact? Is your carpet and linoleum intact? Can you hold a 15 minute phone conversation without a cacophany of barking breaking out? Are you able to have anyone over for dinner? Is the interior of your vehicle free from hair and chewed upholstery? Are you able to afford to go to the dentist? Hairdresser? Buy new clothes? Christmas presents? Pay your Hydro bill? Buy groceries other than pet food? Do people think you're "nice but why don't you just get rid of all those animals?".
Just curious.
Don't hold your breath waiting for me to argue with you again though. It is a futile road that I just simply don't have time for-I'm too busy cleaning up society's messes, just like Crytstal is.

ps- don't worry about alerting the Vernon SPCA to my insubordinate ways- they already know all about me. As a matter of fact I was just querying them last Sunday as to why they were holding a fundraiser at a pet shop that has regularly sold
puppy mill pups for 12 years. There were 3 of them for sale in the store on that very day. Seems the term "conflict of interest" still doesn't mean anything to them. The line up at the pet shop's cash register was 7 people long. The donations were flowing into the SPCA as well. It's all just business and merchandise.
