Jennifer, your questions and comments are in quotes.
JD: “Spend a little time informing yourself about true rescue.” I’m trying to but most here seem to think otherwise. JD: “It is a futile road that I just simply don't have time for.”
JD: “How many cats and dogs live in your house?” Enough
JD: “How much money do you owe your vet right now?” None they are all healthy.
JD: ”Have you been out to dinner in the last 7 years?” Yes
JD: “How many hours is the longest you can leave your house for?” As long as desired, I have friends to look after the critters.
JD: “Do you actually have grass in your backyard?” Yes “Flowers?” No
JD: “Are your walls in your house intact? Is your carpet and linoleum intact? Can you hold a 15 minute phone conversation without a cacophany of barking breaking out? Are you able to have anyone over for dinner? Is the interior of your vehicle free from hair and chewed upholstery? Are you able to afford to go to the dentist? Hairdresser? Buy new clothes? Christmas presents? Pay your Hydro bill? Buy groceries other than pet food?” Yes to all.
JD: “Do people think you're "nice but why don't you just get rid of all those animals?".” Nice yes, no to second half.
What will happen to the animals in you home should you become injured or so ill you require hospitalization? Do you have a back up plan for that type of event? If so, I suggest you implement it and take a break.
As for your comments on the pet store fundraiser, I agree it is a conflict of interest and should not have occurred.
As to my life and the number of pets I have guardianship over it is simple, I do in fact know how to say no to more animals. The family I am a member of as set a limit for itself and I have to respect that.
