I think a tour would be a good idea. I gave a
film crew manager from Soma Productions one back in 1998.I think they were filming for Animal
Planet at the time. It was at Van shelter where
I worked for a few months before going back to the
spca hospital. He seemed shaken by the sights of the gasbox, freezer, burner ( crematorium) and last but not least the cooler with a huge stack
of bodies ( van shelter also did cremation for
other shelters and private vets). I said to him that I felt if this could be filmed and used someday maybe some people would wake up. Bob Gordon did let him film everything .
I talked with people that wanted to breed their pet. I told them of the room over at the shelter. I described the cooler in alot of detail...the scary part about this was when asked if they were going to spay Pumpkin, the owners would say - NO,
my child wants her to have kittens/puppies.
The child being all of 10 or so years old....
I rarely used the word euthanized when dealing with this mentality...I would just say kill.
I could often get these types in for a spay
( or neuter...) Getting owned animals to not be surrendered, my verbal 'tour' fell on deaf ears.
