Emma raises an excellent point. The BC SPCA often claims it has "low euthanasia rates", but can't or won't produce data to back that claim. If they don't even keep proper records of the number of animals they kill, how will they track the care of these "pet survivors"? If my Auntie Claire dies and leaves her dear cat in the SPCA's hands, can I call next year and be told the status of Miss Puss? May I speak directly with the SPCA staff who will be visiting Miss Puss " ... on a regular basis to ensure your pets are happy and well-cared for"?
Will new head office staff be added specifically to maintain accountability for these special animals? If the SPCA isn't able to trace individual animals in the pet survivor program they would leave themselves open to accusations (and the accompanying lawsuits) of breach of contract.
