The BC SPCA should not complain when they are not invited to a Rescue Group function as too often when they have been invited their behaviour certainly did not encourage others to invite them to the next event.
How many times has the SPCA donation jar come out when a small group was raising funds and had invited the SPCA to their fundraising event? All the rest of us honour the organizing group by agreeing that we won't all solicit donations, but not the SPCA - they blatantly start working the crowd that another group has raised. They act as though none of the others count and that they are entitled to all the money. Everyone is fed up with the arrogance and the sense that they are above all the rest of us, which is puzzling considering that all of us have higher standards than the BC SPCA, not keeping animals in cages and cells and not killing any of them.
The difference between the SPCA and other rescues is that when one group is raising funds we (other groups) all go out and support that group and help by attending and supporting whatever fundraiser they are having. They in return come out and support our functions.
The SPCA however appears to be taking advantage of the exposure to raise funds for itself.
That is not working with the rescue community as the SPCA claims it does.
