What is most disturbing is the SPCA's lack of explanation and communication

It is entirely possible that euthanasia was the only option to end this cat's suffering...I can't rule out that possibility as we have no clear answer as to what was wrong with the cat. And therein lies the crux of the problem - the usual SPCA secrecy.

I have been in the same position as this kind lady. I have placed animal's lives in the hands of the SPCA, offered to foster and pay for any who the SPCA doesn't have resources for, and I too have had my offers ignored and the animals killed, without fair explanation.

The SPCA killed some terrified little puppy mill dogs several years ago despite my offers to foster, rehabilitate, and pay their bills. I tipped the SPCA off to some puppy mills in my area, many dogs wound up in its custody as a result, I offered to rehabilitate any really difficult ones (I have a lot of experience rehabbing puppy mill dogs), and I may as well have been talking to the wall. The SPCA did not thank me, it did not communicate to me that it was going to kill any of the dogs I had offered to help, and it did not give me any reasonable explanation as to why my offers weren't taken up and dogs died instead. Dogs who I had promised help to.

I can't recollect being as hurt and insulted in a long time as I was when the SPCA killed those dogs. When will the SPCA stop being so unpredictable and secretive? When will it give fellow animal rescuers consistent and straight answers? When will it take us up on our offers to help, instead of killing behind our backs and offering us no clear reason?

If the SPCA won't respect its fellow animal lovers and rescuers, how can it EVER expect us to respect it???

Sometimes only a bit of help gives a cat a new lease on life
Simple policy changes could have prevented this
I have sat on the sidelines and watched the SPCA for more years than I can name
