If I had a million dollars I'd sue Ms Moriarty

Several things that Marcie Moriarty is quoted as saying in the Chilliwack Times call for rebuttal.

Regarding the people who were at the demonstration against the SPCA's seizures, Moriarty says, "The reality is that all of these individuals for various reasons and to various extents had neglected their animals."

Quirinius van Dongen had his horses seized by the SPCA, but they had to be returned to him when a court ruling found that he was not guilty of either abuse or neglect.

Tamara Baker has not had charges laid against her.

Unless Moriarty is a trained psychiatrist with Gwen Wilson as a patient, she should not be making statements like this one - "Wilson suffers from a recognized clinical condition known as animal hoarding." The SPCA accused Bev Parent of being a horder as she lay in hospital with fatal and agonizing burns to her whole body which she got while trying to save her cats, and now it is accusing Gwen, who has cancer, of being a mentally ill hoarder too. Both are cowardly attacks on innocent people too ill to defend themselves.

To quote the Bare Naked Ladies, "If I had a million dollars" - I'd sue Ms. Moriarty for defamation if I were Gwen Wilson or Tamara Baker.

Further, Moriarty scoffs at the idea that the SPCA uses seizures as fund-raisers. While I agree that there are legitimate seizures, I can't help but wonder why the SPCA does large seizures, charges fines, sometimes sells the animals back to the original owners, and takes the media along.
People do donate money when they hear of these large seizures.

But the solitary chained yard dog, the suffering feral cats - often the SPCA is phoned year after year about these animals, and does nothing. They could help these animals for far less than the cost of a large seizure, but there is no money to be made one animal at a time.
