I suggest she rescue an old blind dog and take it to visit all the sick kids at Children's hospital

I find it very hard to respond to such comments because I cannot grasp a lack of compassion towards any being. I feel so sad to think of people like Sandy who cannot comprehend the value of an old blind dog. I do however have one practical way of helping Sandy to understand why we do what we do. I suggest she rescue an old blind dog and take it to visit all the sick kids at Children's hospital. There are some gifts that even an old blind dog can give that a person never can.
Well I leave this topic to the words of a much greater humanitarian than myself.

The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.

Most people , who are doing great work for animals in need, are also strong supporters of humanitarian causes ... and vice versa
All beings are sentient. All beings suffer. All beings "feel" that suffering
