Animal Advocates Watchdog

Most people , who are doing great work for animals in need, are also strong supporters of humanitarian causes ... and vice versa

It always amazes me how people assume that saving and helping animals is the one and only empathy animal lovers feel. To them this is the sole act of kindness animal lovers are capable of demonstrating in life. Why is it so hard to comprehend that someone, who goes out of their way to work for the welfare of animals, can also be deeply involved in supporting - and volunteering at - say the Children's Hospital, the Cancer Foundation, or is also an active member of "Meals on Wheels"? Why, in their tunnel-vision mind, and black & white world, has it always have to be one or the other? Do we as animal lovers, everytime we save a dog, also have to advertise the fact that the day before we visited the Palliative Care Ward, held the hand of a lonely dying human being and read him his favorite chapter from "A Tale of Two Cities"? Do we really have to subject ourselves to such pettiness, just to redeem ourselves in the eyes of unfounded criticism?

Human compassion asks for it...one cannot be without the other.
