The Nanaimo SPCA rarely puts down a cat for any reason except health issues

The Nanaimo SPCA rarely puts down a cat for any reason except health issues. I know nearly all the cats there and have done for years. Some of them have been there for two years.

I know that the Nanaimo SPCA also does a good job of caring for cats whose owners are experiencing life problems. One lady, who lived in a tent while trying to find a new apartment, left 5 cats there for over 2 months before she found a place. I was there when she picked them up last Thursday (September 7). When they came in they looked well cared for and healthy and they went home looking really great. Thanks to all concerned for this effort.

I just got back from the Nanaimo Petcetera. There are two wonderful cats there, Mocha and Dudu. They are sharing a large cage. They are 18 years old and they look wonderful. They're in great shape. Their elderly owner died and his aging wife was unable to care for them. The Nanaimo SPCA is trying to find them a home together. I am so glad that these cats were not put down. It would be all too easy to take the easy way out.
