In Response To: Feral cats in Victoria ()

Lorraine, it is wonderful that you care to get involved and Greater Victoria Animals' Crusaders is a Spay/Neuter Society( www.animalcrusaders.ca )which is there to help in situations just like this.

GVAC can provide traps, financial assistance for the spay/neuter, deflea, and deworm, as long as a person is committed to caring for the cats for an extended period of time. Providing food, water and shelter is absolutely necessary for a feral cat colony to be successful.

Feel free to contact us for further information either through our email contact gvac@island.net or our Spay/Neuter phone line 250-474-5581.

GVAC is also always looking for more people to help with the fostering of feral kittens coming from these situations so that we can socialize and provide them with the opportunity of a longer, healthier life. If you cannot provide a foster home, financial donations are also always welcome to help us continue this work.

GVAC also works with the Victoria Adoptables website to place the stray cats that often are found when trapping feral colonies and the kittens once they are ready for new homes.

The contrast between what the SPCA has achieved in reducing the cat population and what the little group in Gibsons has achieved is startling
