What a tragedy for food animals that the BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is still speaking for others' right to eat what they want to eat.
It looks very much like the difference between the SPCA being forced to stop boiling crabs and continuing to serve cruelly butchered animals at its fundraisers might be as simple as the heat turned up under it.
When AAS exposed the SPCA's crab-boil fundraiser in 2006, the SPCA said it wasn't cruel and the crab boil wasn't cancelled.
And then Paul Watson of the international Sea Shepherd Society learned of it and was so outraged that the story hit the news all across Canada. Then the SPCA cancelled it.
