I believe that this particular whale was captured in Iceland and that he is, in fact, a transient. A woman posted on the Orlando Sentinel (who apparently teaches others about Orcas for a living) stated that they lash out because captivity negatively affects them. She went on to relate a story of a captive whale who continually bashed her head on the concrete tank until she died. She also went on to relate the story of Ramu in the Miami Seaquarium that did the same thing. She mentioned whales on antidepressants and living in tanks shallower than their body depths. Sea World will never free these poor souls. Bottomline, they are money in the bank. I wish humans would be so above needing to be entertained by prisoners of greed. To date, 152 orca have died in captivity.
