I foolishly expected BC SPCA to respond to my letter. What I got instead was an intimidating phone call from the Kelowna SPCA manager who told me he had called the Kelowna RCMP to charge me with criminal mischief over the Springvalley Middle School event. This phone call came eleven days after the event, but only one day after head office received my letter. So, Head Office sicked the dogs on me! So I then wrote a second letter to BCSPCA head office detailing this harrassment, and asking if this is how the SPCA handles constructive criticism. This was in April, and still no reply.

I posted the letter on the message board because I want others to know how the SPCA responds (or in fact ignores) to people who have concerns about the animals. It seems that they don't care about these people, or the animals, they only care about their bureaucracy and their self-perpetuating fundraising machine, and anything that threatens or criticizes their comfy empire must be squashed. I know they have treated many others this way. The Kelowna manager has banned people from the shelter and has fired an employee who cared very much for the animals and who would speak out on their behalf.

I'm not surprised you thought they had sent lawyers after me, as they have a reputation for being very heavy handed. One would think they are fundraising for their lawyers.

It's very comforting and inspiring to know there are so many people out there who care. All the best in your efforts.
