The SPCA should be using its vast resources for education not extermination!

Because a pet is unwanted by some irresponsible owner does not make it a disposable commodity like a used car. Actually, even those are recyclable. The SPCA should be using its vast resources for education not extermination!

It is not that hard nor that expensive to develop education programs for schools. We are working on it in our community. The children are the place to start with teaching responsible pet guardianship and the schools are quite receptive to children receiving this information. And when the children come home from school and say: "Mom and Dad, we learned today that we have to be responsible for our pets, their lives are in our hands!", you take a huge step toward eliminating the "need" to dispose of pets!

Not being a devil's advocate, but who should dispose of unwanted pets?
Discarding an animal should not be as easy as dropping off old clothes at the Sally Ann

Think outside the box for animals
We have to deal with situations as they are.
Wake up people- pet abandonment is already rampant and it has NOTHING to do with SPCA surrender policies
I don't believe the SPCA's mandate originally included being a dumping spot for lazy pet owners.
