The SPCA still sells plenty of dangerous dogs: how "responsible" is that Daniell and Gourkow and Chortyk? *PIC*
In Response To: The SPCA's "DREAM TEAM" ()

So much for the SPCA's objective "pseudo science", manipulated to try to kill Cheech. The SPCA still sells plenty of dangerous dogs: how "responsible" is that Daniell and Gourkow and Chortyk?

During a Global TV interview on July 6, 2004, Mr. Daniell stated " We need to make sure that the public has some confidence in the dogs we have available for adoption, that they're going to make good, it's going to be a good match and these dogs are going to make a positive impact in the community. "

And from the SPCA's Kelowna web site at http://www.spca.bc.ca/kelowna/site.html (browse to 'dogs')

Hi! I'm AKA Buddy

Breed: Mastiff/Rottweiler Sex: Male Pet ID: 20735
Age: Adoption Fee: $125.00
History:
Comments: Buddy will not be adopted to any family with small children under the age of ten . And he will also not go to any persons that are not familiar with the breed.

Buddy is a massive, powerful, adult dog. His adoption is conditional on meeting the criteria mentioned in the comments, specifically related to the age and size of children and the characteristics of the breed mix. Therefore the Kelowna SPCA staff has directed that he may be adopted only by breed-knowledgeable adults into a home with no children under the age of 10 years.

Considering the information we now have in regard to the temperament of the puppy "Cheech", and the SPCA's recommendations regarding Buddy, I have to question which of the dogs -Buddy or Cheech -poses the least, if any, threat to the public.

In addition, the restrictions and precautions indicated regarding the adoption of Buddy, in my opinion, are not consistent with the moral and ethical considerations which Mr. Daniell spoke of in his statement made during the Global TV interview I have referred to.

To a particular group of people, Buddy could be highly valued to the wrong people and\or for the wrong reasons. I would like to see the results of Buddy's assessment, which obviously led to the decision to place restrictions on his adoption, although he was not deemed "unadoptable". If the assessment of Buddy raised issues of safety, I recommend that he be reassessed by the person who most recently assessed Cheech.

This request should be in agreement with the BCSPCA as Mr. Daniell stated during an interview reported in The Province on July 7, 2004 in regard to Cheech, "We'd be more than willing to have an individual that we consider to be someone beyond repute assess him to determine if he's a good candidate for adoption or not,". Given his extensive experience and impressive qualifications, I believe Mr. Yazman meets the requirement of being "beyond repute".

Cheech and his friends at the dog dump can't understand the reasons why some of them are allowed to go to live with a family when others are not. Frankly, neither can I.

After saying that Cheech lunges at children's throats, the SPCA's spinmistress may have spun herself right out the door
