The Editor,
Harbour City Star
Val McWilliams has written an interesting puff piece for the BC SPCA.
Perhaps the Harbour City Star could research which branches actually offer any assistance and advise all of us in rescue as the contacts would be invaluable the next time a woman with children in crisis calls.
I am aware that a wonderful veterinary hospital in Victoria offers boarding services with assistance often from Greater Victoria Animals' Crusaders who are happy to pay the vaccination costs if required. The SPCA in Victoria has no involvement that I am aware of other than to refer calls for help to the vet involved and GVAC. The transition houses now call directly for assistance, leaving the SPCA totally out.
This means the whole "Violence Link Project" will fail as there will be no reporting mechanism between societies and that is a shame. Victimized women and children do not deserve to be further victimized by "spin-doctored" propaganda.
