The sad reality is that we in British Columbia kill far more bears than they do in Washington state where they have better re-homing procedures and more conservation officers. The public in Washington seem to be better able to cope and are more willing to take precautions to prevent bears from coming into their yards. I think it is so tragic that people can continue to move into the space of wild animals and then kill them when they get in the way.
