Dolphin Exhibit Displays Misery And Death
Ladies & Gentlemen:
The following letter accurately expresses my views regarding this issue.
Please accept it as a petition calling for an end to the cruel dolphin
display used as a tourist attraction in West Edmonton Mall.
It was with great sadness that I read about a dead newborn dolphin,
being nudged gently by his/her grieving mother, floating in the dolphin
display at West Edmonton Mall. Reports indicate that two other dolphin
calves were stillborn at the mall in 1996.
This sad trend is another example of why dolphins don't belong in
shopping malls. Dolphins are free-ranging and highly intelligent marine
mammals. They do not belong in a substandard tank.
I request that West Edmonton Mall permanently close this inhumane
display and immediately release the remaining dolphins to a proper
sanctuary where they can live out the rest of their natural lives in a
more suitable environment. I will boycott the West Edmonton Mall and
encourage as many people as I can to join me until those in charge make
the compassionate decision to end this cruel exhibit.
