I stopped after reading many books, including a book by Peter Singer and someone else called "Animal Factories". Even though it's a bit old, it's very very well written with facts that stunned me. I never knew that our "food animals" were treated that way. Like most people, I thought they lived on farms, happily spending their life in the sun, and then would die a rather painless death, I couldn't imagine anybody treating living beings like the way they are doing.
Think about it!!!!...They are feeding pig and chicken remains to cows...BUT COWS ARE HERBIVORES!!!! They are forcing a herbivorous animal to eat meat. In other countries, they feed dead cows back to cows, they force them to cannabalise their kind. Is this natural?
It is very hard, as I am only 16 and still live with my parents. My parents do not support the animal/environment movement (or should I say, are quite against it), they still eat a lot of meat. And I have to choose only the vegetables to eat, which means I only get to eat half of what I did before. But IT'S WORTH IT!!!!! I strongly suggest anybody interested to go to the following websites. And you will understand why so many people are turning vegetarian.
