Once again a volunteer driven organization, (PAWS) has stepped up to the plate and is attempting to save (at last count) approximately 80 dogs that have been chained for a lifetime to trees on a mountainside near Creston BC.
All dogs have been malnourished, physically, emotionally and medically neglected, none are spayed or neutered. Before fostering or adoptions take place all animals will be s/n, and medically checked.
At least two litters of pups have been born since this massive rescue has begun.
All cats that were found were so horribly abused that each and everyone of them had to be put to sleep. The conditions they were subjected to are indescribable....
At this point, there is no information being released on the person (s) involved, as PAWS, individual's and other animal welfare groups that are assisting (Friends of the Animals, BigDogRescue)are focusing their first priority on getting the animals off the mountain and then, assisting with the rehabilitation of these poor souls.
I will update everyone as additional information becomes available and if you can assist with donations of any kind...such as toys, food, blankets, fostering or adoption please contact me directly.
Creston does not have a "facility" to house these dogs and currently some of the homes of the volunteers involved have 11 dogs living with them.
Once all the dogs are secure and safe a press release will be issued. Again, at this point I am not sure if local "authorities" the SPCA or ??? have been involved, but as the story unravels I will pass on anything I know.
I will be fostering one of these dogs and hopefully those with foster or adoptive homes will be transported out west very soon.
Thank you in advance for ANYTHING you can do to assist with one of the largest volunteer driven seizures ever.

And please take a look at Lady's picture, she is the one I am hoping to foster!
