Compassion needed

Vancouver Province

Monday, February 14, 2005

Closing the zoo would be in the best interest of the animals as well as the children and other visitors to the park. To see animals in a captive state under the guise of education only serves to teach a sad lesson of what a life of imprisonment is like for them.

It is irresponsible to perpetuate the perception that animals are objects for humans to use at will.

It is more important to teach a lesson of compassion and reverence for all living beings.
