Jeannine Woodhouse, manager of the SPCA shelter in Prince George, will be leaving her position on March 10.
Woodhouse, who has held the position for 4 ½ years, said she’s leaving for personal reasons.
“I feel I’ve done as much as I can for the shelter and it’s time to move on to other things,” said Woodhouse, who added she is seriously considering running for city council in November.
“I’m very proud of what we’ve achieved at the SPCA. We have an excellent staff, improved animal care within the shelter, and one of the bigger changes has been that we now deal with animal cruelty on a very active level. We have a new van, a new truck, new cat kennel, and we’ve created a lot of awareness in the community about what the SPCA stands for and where we are.”
Woodhouse has agreed “to continue working through the transition period and to complete some projects.”
Her one regret is there never seems to be enough funding to adequately staff the shelter, but she’s pleased that the society has secured a staff member for cruelty investigations.
