Welcome news: SPCA Pet Store Campaign Under Way

Pet Store Campaign Under Way
A working group made up of representatives from Cruelty Investigations, Community Relations and Animal Health is working on a campaign to address standards of welfare for animals in pet stores and to encourage the public to make educated choices about where they obtain pets. This work includes creating a database of pet stores selling live animals, coordination of store inspections and advocacy initiatives.

The work is initially focusing on the Lower Mainland but will be expanding to other areas once activities are up and running. If you’d like to know more, please contact Lorie at lchortyk@spca.bc.ca. The group would like to remind branch staff and volunteers to please support pet stores which sell pet supplies rather than live animals when purchasing items for shelters.

Will the SPCA "educate" Petcetera?
Clerks and management personnel were insufficiently knowledgeable as to the basic care...
