I am shocked to hear that the Discovery Channel would air a program that promotes such archaic ideas as promoting the breeding of companion animals because the family loved the kitten so much! You have prided yourselves as being a leading edge channel dealing with modern issues but by airing this type of program you have proven that you are lost in the Dark Ages when it comes to animal issues. I am actively involved with rescue groups here in Vancouver and am currently fostering a very young mother cat and her eight kittens. I guess the family that owned this mother cat didn’t love her enough to not throw her out of their home when she became pregnant due to their own irresponsible actions of not getting her spayed. These poor souls now live in my Bathroom because I do not want to expose my own eight cats to possible contagion. A local SPCA just sent 50 more kittens to Vancouver to try and find homes for them here. this lessens the chance of my fosters finding a good forever home. The eight cats that share my home with me are all “throw aways” that I have taken in because they were abandoned by the same people who should have realized what it means to have an animal in their home. I urge you to open your eyes and look around at what really is going on. There is an epidemic of overpopulation and innocent animals are paying the price. There are thousands of rescue groups working round the clock helping these cast offs and trying to educate people about the emergent need to spay and neuter. Your channel would be better to air a film like “The Witness” directed by Jenny Stein that shows the real truth about animal issues. I urge you to browse the internet and have a look at the many rescue sites out there you may learn something new!
