CTV: Four-month old Jiji looks happy now *PIC*

April 21, 2005

A Rottweiler puppy is sleeping at the SPCA after it was found living in inhumane conditions.

Four-month old Jiji looks happy now, but it hasn't always been good for her. A neighbour called the SPCA after discovering the puppy was being kept inside a Rubbermaid container. Jiji had to stoop to fit inside the box. She had no room to move, no access to daylight and water. For air, the owners cut out holes in the box and had it chained to an anvil. The SPCA seized Jiji after three visits to the home.

Eileen Drever with the SPCA says the puppy will not be going back to its owners.

The SPCA is trying to break through a language barrier with the puppy's owners. Jiji is physically okay but will be assessed for emotional damage.
